How to add pickleball to your event
Adding pickleball to a corporate event, conference, or trade show comes down to six decisions: the outcome you want, the play format, the venue and surface, staffing and equipment, logistics, and branding. The simplest path is a turnkey activation, where one vendor delivers, builds, staffs, and removes everything for you.
Start with the outcome, not the courts
Decide what you want the pickleball to do — draw booth traffic, build team chemistry, entertain VIPs, generate content — and scope the build to that. A lead-capture trade-show activation looks different from a private team-building afternoon.
Match the format to the audience
Options include open play (drop in anytime), staffed clinics for beginners, a bracketed tournament, or a celebrity/pro exhibition. Mixed crowds do best with staff running short round-robins so nobody stands around.
Confirm the venue and surface
Portable rollout courts install on almost anything — convention floors, ballrooms, parking lots, grass, rooftops — but grass and hard outdoor surfaces may need a subfloor system. Share your space and load-in details early.
Plan for staff and equipment
Beyond the courts you need nets, quality paddles, balls, and — critically — event staff who can teach, officiate, and keep energy up. This is the difference between a court people use and a court people ignore.
Handle the logistics (or hire it out)
Delivery windows, install and teardown, union labor at convention centers, and insurance/COI all matter. A turnkey vendor handles all of it on one invoice; piecing it together yourself rarely saves money.
Brand it
Custom-wrapped courts, branded nets, and signage turn a fun amenity into a marketing asset that shows up in every photo and post.
Popular formats by event type
- Corporate events & team-building — staffed clinics and round-robins that get everyone playing.
- Trade shows & conferences — a branded booth or show-floor court for foot traffic and lead capture.
- Brand activations — custom-wrapped courts as the content-ready centerpiece.
